ERA exploits a variety of sensor technologies for security
applications. Working in conjunction with customers, ERA identifies
suitable technologies and provides prototype systems to meet
their requirements. We can then undertake the full engineering
project leading to fully engineered and installed security
systems.
ERA's expertise covers radar (including ultra-wideband),
electromagnetic, infra-red, optical, visual and acoustic technologies.
We can also provide independent consultancy and advice on
the selection of suitable security technology and solutions.
Some commonly used technologies are:
|
|
Millimetre wave imaging, which detects
radiation reflected from concealed weapons and contraband.
It can be used at passenger security checkpoints at airports
as conveniently as X-ray screening of baggage, but no
radiation risk. |
|
|
Passive RF sensors, which use microwave
radiometers to detect RF energy emitted or reflected from
objects. This technology is particularly useful for detecting
flush-buried mines in situations where covert operation
is essential. |
|
|
Nuclear quadrupole resonance sensors,
which can detect and identify various types of explosive
material. ERA is developing of state of the art hardware
and signal processing techniques for both hand-held detectors
as well as the large NQR systems for vehicle inspection. |
