Analytical services
Understanding the composition of materials is critical for compliance and forensic investigations.
ERA provides analysis of materials – chemical, structural, electrical backed up with expert knowledge to interpret the results.
We use a range of powerful techniques to provide the maximum benefit to our clients, techniques such as:
Scanning electron microscopy (SEM): Ideal for micro-scale examination, imaging at high depth of field and analysis of elemental composition Includes energy dispersive (ED) and wavelength dispersive (WD) x-ray analysis, plus automated particle detection.
Ion chromatography (IC): Identify ionic species in solution. Important in contamination and corrosion investigations
Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR): Used to identify polymeric materials for failure analysis and surface contamination.
Thermal analysis: Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), thermomechanical analysis (TMA): For characterisation of polymers.
Surface Roughness (Ra): Measurement of surface texture which is critical in adhesion, lubrication and wear analysis.
We also provide analysis services using other techniques including microfocus x-ray, GC-MS, ICP, AAS, tensile and shear testing and more.
