The new course ‘EMC in the Built Environment’ will be taking place on the 4th June 2009 at Cobham Technical Services in Leatherhead, Surrey, UK.

The revised EMC Directive 2004/108/EC has introduced a requirement for “fixed installations”, placing new responsibilities on owners and operators of buildings and installations. The “Manufacturer” or “Assembler” of an installation must have available documentation regarding the good engineering practices applied in assembling the installation and a responsible person needs to be identified.

ERA Technology Ltd, trading as Cobham Technical Services, is a UK Government BERR appointed Notified Body for EMC and has a wealth of experience of EMC, gained over many decades of providing technical consultancy to help clients fulfil EMC obligations.

There are many important factors which affect EMC within the built environment and this course provides a thorough understanding of best EMC engineering practices, to ensure that installations are designed which are compliant with the current EMC Directive. The course stresses the importance of considering EMC at the concept design stage, examining the requirements for site surveys and modelling, and covers system level design considerations and how to manage EMC and demonstrate on-going compliance.
