ERA Technology Conference: 19-20 November 2008, Heathrow, UK

ERA Technology is pleased to announce the programme for its influential two-day environmental product legislation conference, ‘Electrical and Electronic Equipment and the Environment 2008 – Meeting the Technical and Regulatory Challenges’, which will be held on the 19-20 November 2008 at the Sheraton Skyline Hotel, Heathrow, London. The conference is the 10th in a successful portfolio of environmental events.

This prestigious event will bring together expert speakers, from around the world to present details of the very latest developments in the key environmental legislation affecting electrical and electronic products: REACH, EuP (eco-design), RoHS, WEEE and Batteries regulations.

The conference will provide authoritative overviews and policy updates, present reviews from different industry perspectives and detail the progress of the regulations, since entering into force in the UK and Member States. The development of environmental product legislation around the globe, including the US will also be reviewed. Case studies from senior industry representatives will be used to present examples of best practice in meeting the many challenges faced by manufacturers and their supply chain today.

Papers will be presented from leading industry organisations including AeA Europe, Albemarle , BERR, Chemical Business Association (CBA), DEFRA, Electrolux, ERA, Farnell, Frost and Sullivan , NWML, Öko Institut, Repic, Smiths Detection, and the Strategic Counsel.

Specific key topics will include, progress on pre-registration of substances under REACH, the impending regulation of many energy using products, and the increasing range of products affected and substances being restricted under RoHS and REACH. The on-going pressures on manufacturers and importers to ensure that their electrical and electronic products or batteries can be suitably re-used, recycled or disposed of, to comply with the WEEE and Batteries directives, will be also be discussed.
