ERA Technology has recently completed a US$1.75M contract in the United Arab Emirates to undertake inspection and engineering assessments on a range of static plant on ADGAS's Das Island Liquefied Natural
Gas (LNG) complex. |
ADGAS is one of the largest processors of LNG in the Middle East and is
justifiably proud of its safe and reliable production record since the plant
became operational in 1974.
As part of ADGAS's continuing integrity management programme, its process equipment has gone through one of
the most thorough integrity assessments of plant operating in wet hydrogen sulphide service undertaken anywhere
in the world. This was the second ADGAS contract awarded to ERA under this programme, combining a total order
value in excess of US$2.75M.
In delivering this project, ERA utilised state-of-the-art data collection and assessment techniques, culminating from
20 years experience of providing plant integrity services to the oil and gas industry. ERA also developed an advanced
knowledge management system to assist ADGAS's own engineers with future plant integrity planning.
Simon Brown, Head of Engineering Consultancy Services at ERA, explained: “We are delighted to have provided this
major plant integrity project for ADGAS. As North Sea gas reserves start to decline, the UK is looking to the
provision of LNG to help meet our domestic energy needs. The importance of LNG in all our lives is likely to increase and ERA can be proud in making a contribution to its safe and reliable production.”

About ADGAS
ADGAS, which is the Gulf pioneer in the field of Gas Liquefaction, was established in 1973 and started producing
and exporting liquefied gas in 1977. Its plant on Das Island is unique worldwide in its ability to process both
associated gas, which is a by-product of oil extraction operations, and natural gas extracted as a free product from
gas reservoirs. ADGAS plant's feedgas, comprising natural and associated kinds, comes from Abu Dhabi's offshore
fields. The company's plant is comprised of three process trains. The third of these, started production in 1994 as
an addition to the original two that were commissioned in 1977. When commissioned, the 3rd LNG train was the
largest of its kind in the world.
The plant's average annual production is eight million tonnes of liquefied natural gas, liquefied petroleum gas,
pentane and liquid sulphur.
