ERA Technology is pleased to announce that their popular training course “MIL-STD-1553B” has been revised and updated to include the existing and forthcoming enhancements to the standard NG 1553, EBR 1553 and MIL-STD-1553C. The next course will be held on the 27th October 2005 at ERA’s site in Leatherhead.
The course provides a thorough introduction to MIL-STD-1553B the most widely used military standard for medium speed data communications in the world today, for a wide range of operational avionic and military systems. The standard is used in systems where data integrity and system reliability are critical and has applications in aircraft avionics, ships, submarines, tanks and in satellites. It has also been used for some commercial systems including reactors and oil drilling.
Since its introduction, the standard has been continuously updated to maintain its relevance to emerging developments. The course reflects these changes providing details of the requirements and complexities of the standard. Instruction is also given on the design and implementation of new 1553B systems, together with guidance on the effective maintenance and upgrading of existing systems.
The course presenters are Bill Stone and Derek Bracknell. Bill has over twenty years experience working with the standard including designing and installing buses for industrial applications of 1553B and writing test plans for installed 1553B data buses. Derek was involved in the early development of 1553B whilst carrying out research into data transmission systems. He was responsible for the UK MOD input to the US 1553A/B Tri-Service update committee and has more recently been involved in the development of high performance data networks and interface techniques.
