HRH The Duke of Kent visited ERA Technology in Leatherhead, on Thursday, 24 February 2005. This was the third such visit made by the Duke to ERA in the last decade.
During the visit, hosted by ERA’s Chief Executive Officer, Fred Cahill, His Royal Highness had the opportunity to meet the staff of ERA Technology and to view some of the high technology development work undertaken on the site. This included low-profile antenna technology, advanced communications equipment and humanitarian mine detection tools.
The Duke of Kent opened a new ERA test facility installed to check electrical devices, such as household fuses and plugs, to British and European standards.
The Duke also met with the Managing Director of Pira International and viewed the accommodation that Pira will shortly occupy on the ERA site.
Also present during the visit were Mr Geoff Cooper CBE, Chairman of ERA; Mr Mike Hancock, Managing Director of Pira International; Mrs Sarah Goad JP, HM Lord Lieutenant of Surrey; Cllr Bridget Lewis, Chairman Mole Valley District Council and Cllr Hubert Carr, District Councillor Leatherhead North.
