ERA Technology hosts numerous events including specialist engineering training courses and conferences. They also regularly attend various industry-specific exhibitions and conferences around the world. Details of upcoming events can be found below.

Training Courses

For twenty five years ERA Technology has been running a regular programme of CPD certified training courses, which help their customers maintain and develop technical excellence. ERA training courses provide an authoritative, interactive route to improving knowledge and expertise and for many customers the programmes have become a fundamental part of their organisation’s personnel development plans.

ERA Technology has their own dedicated training centre and courses are presented by highly specialised ERA engineers who have many years experience on the subject gained by working on numerous projects, across all sectors of industry. Click here for the course schedule.

Training courses can also be delivered at your site, in either standard or tailored formats to meet your specific requirements. If alleviating travel costs, eliminating the time staff are away from the office, or designing course content that meet your needs is a priority then with ERA’s in-company training you are assured of a cost effective solution. ERA Conference 2012

14th November 2012 09:02

Location: Sheraton Skyline Hotel, Heathrow, London (view directions)

Event details

Electrical and Electronic Equipment and the Environment 2012: Meeting the Technical and Regulatory Challenges

Taking place at the Sheraton Skyline, Heathrow on the 14-15 November 2012, the 12th Annual ERA Conference will attract around 80 delegates, from a broad spectrum of professions involved in compliance, design, quality assurance and the production and distribution of electrical and electronic equipment.

The event promises to be as spectacular as ever, targeting hot topics from the introduction of RoHS2 and future amendments to the REACH regulation and WEEE directive, to the continuing struggle with conflict minerals.  As in earlier years, last year provided us with some memorable presentations, such as:

  • “Update on developments in ecodesign and energy labelling policy”, (DEFRA) “Imaging Industry’s Voluntary Agreement with the European Commission – An alternative approach to ecodesign legislation”, (KODAK)
  • “Responsible end-of-life management of EEE – the contribution of standards”, (WEEE-forum)

Our expert panel of organisers includes Dr. Chris Robertson and Dr. Paul Goodman, both of whom work for ERA Technology Ltd within our regulatory compliance department.  Between them they have provided consultancy work for numerous companies to ensure they are compliant with the RoHS, REACH and ecodesign directives; they are heavily involved with the European Commission, having previously assisted them in reviewing categories for inclusion and exemption in the RoHS directive and are currently involved in a project to analyse the impact of RoHS as well as leading a preparatory study into industrial and laboratory furnaces and ovens.

The conference offers delegates a chance to meet with those representatives of organisations directly involved with the creation of these types of legislation as well as affording them the opportunity to relate and identify with the challenges other companies encounter when faced with such regulations.

This conference is the best event of its kind to interact and interface with leading organisations at the forefront of the electrical and electronic sector.

EMC in the Built Environment

26th June 2012 09:00

Event details

Many companies within the built environment are unaware of their legal obligation to comply with the new Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) Directive 2004/108/EC,* with regard to fixed installations. The regulation ensures that legacy and new electrical systems operate together safely, reliably and free from electromagnetic interference. The Directive requires electromagnetic compatibility to be maintained between all systems.

ERA’s one day training course will provide you with a thorough understanding of best EMC engineering practices, to ensure that installations are designed which are compliant with the most recent EMC Directive. The course will stress the benefits of complying with EMC legislation and will identify risks and provide effective strategies to mitigate risk. It will detail EMC engineering techniques and processes that will improve operational reliability and resilience of buildings and installations.

The programme includes:

  • EMC Directive requirements
  • The fundamentals of electromagnetic coupling
  • EMC at the concept design stage – building design principles for EMC
  • Site surveys and modelling
  • System level design considerations
  • Equipment selection and demonstration of on-going compliance
  • EMC management

Who should attend:

Those responsible for the operation or design of fixed installations including:

  • Site owners, site operators and site maintainers
  • Installation maintainers
  • M&E Designers
  • Project Managers
  • Associate Directors
  • Design Managers
  • Project Engineers

ERA Technology has a wealth of experience of EMC, gained over many decades providing technical consultancy to help clients fulfil EMC obligations. Recent projects have included managing the EMC requirements for the Kings Cross development. This was carried out through the provision of EMC Assurance Files, engineering practices, risk assessment and the cost effective mitigation processes. We were also the EMC consultants working for the owner/operator on the Terminal 5 project at Heathrow, setting the requirements for the various task teams to comply with, so that there would be no malfunctions due to an EMC event.
