| Systems Safety Engineer (Rail) - The Safety Engineering Group of ERA Technology (Cobham Plc) has successfully secured a number of prestigious, long term Rail sector contracts and is now looking to expand its existing high calibre team. Vacancies exist for dedicated and experienced safety engineers and consultants at all levels.
Ideally applicants should be within commuting distance of either Leatherhead, Surrey, or London. Home based applicants will be considered for senior positions.
Successful candidates will have a strong system safety background and will be required to deliver a wide range of services which encompass all aspects of the safety lifecycle. Applications for senior positions will also be required to demonstrate project management and/or new business development experience.

ERA is looking to employ candidates with proven ERTMS assurance experience to enhance our existing high calibre team.
Ideally applicants should be within commuting distance of either Leatherhead in Surrey or central London. Home based applicants will be considered.
Successful candidates must have knowledge of the ERTMS TSIs, in particular the Control and Command Signalling TSI. Candidates who have previously been employed by one of the UNISIG companies in their development of ERTMS products or have acted as a NoBo would be ideal. In addition, knowledge of system safety would be beneficial, although this is not essential.

Senior EMC/HIRF/RF Engineer – To project manage and perform a range of EMC, high intensity radiated field (HIRF) and RF assessments. This will involve planning, proposal writing, off-site measurements, theoretical work, results assessment and reporting. Other tasks may include for example contributing to business development.
ERA undertakes EMC/HIRF and RF assessments for a wide range of clients including the rail, built environment and defence & aerospace sectors. ERA has a strong reputation in performing testing on aircraft and this would be a significant part of the role, which will involve some international travel. ERA became Ofcom’s official outsourced technical services provider in 2004, and provides assessments of radio interference across a wide range of radio technologies including UMTS, WiMAX, Wi-Fi, UWB, DTT, PMSE, radar and satellite communications. The range of work carried out by the group is both varied and challenging would provide the candidate with a very interesting role.

Senior RF Measurement Engineer – The role will be to carry out RF measurements over a wide range of both well established and cutting edge communications technologies and other systems such as radar. This will include project management, laboratory testing, field trials, theoretical assessments, report writing, providing technical input to bids and giving presentations. The successful candidate is also likely to have, or be willing to develop, a broad knowledge of current communications systems, technology and associated test methods. The candidate would be joining a team of over 20 engineers who will provide considerable support on projects and an environment where engineers can learn fast.
This is a high profile role and the successful candidate will be expected to attend meetings with key stakeholders and deliver technical presentations where necessary. Some travel is likely to be required, mainly within the UK.

Senior Power System Engineers –
ERA’s Engineering Consultancy Services provide technical solutions to owners and operators of large capital value assets both here in the UK and overseas. Clients are drawn from utility companies, industry, the built environment, insurers and loss adjusters.
We have vacancies for Electrical Power Systems Engineers who, working as part of a team, will carry out the analysis of power system performance in the steady state and under dynamic conditions using theoretical power system study techniques which involve the use of power systems analysis software.
They will also provide general consultancy services on earthing, HV and LV power quality, and the practical resolution of operational problems through investigation and design. Additionally, they will assist in the investigation of failures of electrical equipment such as cables, transformers and switchgear.
The successful applicants will be educated to degree standard or equivalent in electrical engineering or a similar discipline. Graduate entry level candidates, who will be mentored to achieve chartered engineer status, will hold a minimum of a 2:1 degree; Engineer level candidates will additionally be able to demonstrate hands-on power system investigation experience whilst Senior Engineers will also be able to demonstrate project leadership expertise within the discipline.
