The MoD has a tool which can be used by IPTs to determine the maturity of different facets of their programme. It has been recognised that this tool would benefit from a formal review, and if required, re-engineering. The ASSC has been tasked with this review and update.

PLDs developed using DO-254 are often used in modern military avionics equipment. The study aims to develop guidance on:
a) suitable approaches for Hazard Analysis on COTS containing PLDs and Software

The ASSC is responsible for maintaining some of its most widely used guides. Over the past 12 months the group has updated the Guide to Digital Interface Standards for Military Avionics, the Guide to 1553B and Study of Maximum Signalling Speed For Electrical Def Stan 00-18.
