ERA undertakes the design validation of electrical and mechanical products for manufacturers, users and plant operators. This is carried out by examining design files, making site visits to inspect similar installations, carrying out finite element modelling and conducting peer reviews of manufacturer’s investigations.

We also carry out site installation testing during the commissioning of new plant. ERA has a wide capability in the field of life prediction. We undertake accelerated tests and long term tests to enable.

Our techniques include stepped isothermal and statistical methods to reduce the duration of the tests and to quantify the accuracy of our predictions.

ERA carries out product approvals in a number of ways. We carry out type approvals of electrical equipment by either in-house testing or by witnessing tests at manufacturers premises to provide a third party verification service for clients.

We operate the fuel pipework surveillance testing and review conformance scheme (Fuelstar) to the Institute of Petroleum standard.

We carry out thermomechanical assessment of cables from desktop studies through to full testing and determine cable ratings by either modelling or testing.
